Samira Darya was born in 1978 in Tehran, Iran. She attended Jahad University Department of Arts before she began teaching art. She has participated in more than 100 paintings and presented at 9 paintings exhibitions.
Darya’s paintings mainly employ figurative subject matter, but also subject matter concerning nature, animals, and mysterious spaces. Her works are mostly influenced by the effects of surrealism and a combination of other periods with social topics. Her interest in peace for humanity is evident in her works, and she uses myths and symbols to portray this. Darya is loyal to traditions and modernity in her paintings, and consistently uses the same form and material. She believes that the human mind is accustomed to war, destruction, tyrannyand oppression, and believes we need a transformation in which the concept of peace is rooted within us, like a tree.
