Diego Cibelli is an Italian artist.
Cibelli is born in 1987. His career as an artist interestingly originated in geographical studies. Cibelli researched into the question of how humans develop a sense of attachment to the landscape and how these senses of belonging create different ways of living. Most of Cibelli’s works are created with ceramics – a material that the artist considers to possess a micro and a macro level. In the micro, Cibelli is interested in the experimentation of the object itself. In the macro, the artist is interested in the material’s relation with its own geography – being linked with the soil and the climatic factors of its origin. Diego Cibelli leads an academic career consisting of both fine arts and product design. This is something that is visible in every project he produces, which are conceived as a constellation of objects that build a scenario of living (habitat), instead of isolated pieces themselves. Each series explores different ways of interaction and relations between humans and other species, framed in anthropology as paradigms of living.
