Charoula Nikolaidou is a Greek artist.

Nikolaidou is a visual artist based in Thessaloniki, Greece. She excelled in Visual and Applied Arts at Aristotle University, graduating with an Integrated Master’s degree 9,62/10 (Excellent) in 2010. Nikolaidou has exhibited her work in Greece, Cyprus, London, Paris and Geneva. She participated in the 5th Biennale of the School of Fine Arts of Greece in 2008. Her work has evolved greatly in style since her graduation and has given way to more abstract, complex and narrative-luminous paintings. Across this evolving body of work, Nikolaidou’s focus on the figure remains a common thread.

Nikolaidou creates subjects that are depicted in fantastical, often dreamy tableaux, often depicted with vivid colours and semi-abstract figures. Her works reference traditional figurative painting of both historic and contemporary strands. Some notable influences include: Matisse, Egon Schiele and Francis Bacon. Through her artwork, Charoula Nikolaidou manifests the poetry of painting as a cathartic value against agony. Her work has been collected extensively in private collections worldwide.
