International 5 Photo Award
International 5 Photo Award
OPENING : 25 Aug 2021 18:00 PM GMT
The 5 Photo Award is an international photography and video art competition with the goal of bridging the gap between different countries and cultures.
The festival is inspired by a 500-year-old tree in the suburb of Damavand, located in the village of Aro. Abbas Kiarostami, an acclaimed director and photographer, has photographed this tree every year in different seasons. His photographs have been exhibited in prestigious galleries across the world, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, under the title “Snow White.”
Mehdi Shadizadeh, a documentary photographer and filmmaker, founder of the 5 Photo Award, rephotographed the tree about two years ago and founded the festival to honour this cultural and iconic emblem that represents Abbas Kiarostami’s artistic legacy.
The number “5” is derived from the movie “5” made by Abbas Kiarostami, which was published in 2003 and contains 5 scenes with an average duration of 16 minutes.
Topic:
Landscape
The category of landscape photography was chosen to explore the beauty of nature and capture the purest moments. In landscape photography, the photographer who captures nature’s beauty plays the role of director, while nature plays the role of protagonist.
When we look at art from the Far East, especially Japanese and Chinese art, we see that humans are treated equally to all other aspects in the piece. Humans can be featured as part of nature in photography and are not distinguished from other aspects.
Still Life
Still life photography is a challenging style to master because it requires photographers to blend all of their experiences into a simple but effective arrangement. The goal is to explain a concept or an idea in the most straightforward way feasible.
The arrangement of the scene is the most important aspect of this style. Rather than just snapping a picture, photographers are more involved in creating the scenario.
