Contours of the Soul

Blue Rhino is delighted to present Ehsan Arjmand’s latest works, capturing the metaphysical evolution of the soul through surreal imagery and expressive forms. The exhibition stands as a testament to the artist’s deeply personal reflection. From moments of raw emotion to profound introspection, Arjmand delves into the temporality of the soul to capture the fleeting and immaterial energy embodied within the frame. The selection of works reveal the depths of the human condition, inviting viewers to explore the universal themes that bind us all.

How can we envision the invisible?
How could the soul be grasped in empirical forms?

The artist’s reflection is a journey that delves deep into his existing mind, extracting an inner feeling that is as fluid as it is impossible to fully comprehend. For Arjmand, the body serves as a battlefield, a setting for accidents. Through the surreal form of fleeting brushstrokes and linear figures, Arjmand explores the ephemeral and personal nature of the soul.

Drawing inspiration from the delicate balance between body, soul, life, and death; the artist’s paintings are vessels for profound introspection. The ungraspable essence of the soul unfolds on a canvas through a mesmerising interplay of distortion, elongation, and abstraction. The fluidity and energetic motions of paint allude to the sublime existence of the soul.

Arjmand’s art delves into the depths of the human condition. The soul, in its metaphysical existence associated with the human body, inspires the artist’s inward exploration. Offering a glimpse into the interconnectedness of humanity and the enduring resilience of the human spirit. Each painting begins with a narrative derived from a drawing, a piece of writing, a photo or video, which Arjmand responds to through the expanding lines and abstraction of his art. Offering a poignant glimpse into the connection of the body with itself, others and the environment.

Through the surreal form of fleeting brushstrokes and linear figures, Arjmand explores the ephemeral and personal nature of the soul. The artist’s reflection is a journey that delves deep into his existing mind, extracting an inner feeling that is as fluid as it is impossible to fully comprehend.  In transcending the personal realm, the art provokes a sentimental appreciation among all viewers. Inviting us to connect with our own inner essences.
